• Sub 40 degree weather is not favorable for your vehicle. You cant expect on a long drive that conditions and the mileage will remain almost the same. Remember too, that if you should go for short trips it will drop the car's gas mileage.
• Your air conditioning tends to burn more gasoline in the engine. This in turn tends to reduce the gas mileage. It so happens that when you sit in a car you tend to use the defrost for an extended time period. With the defrost, the air conditioning starts automatically which takes away a lot of power from engine.
